Someone expressed the desire to return to the level of equality that existed 20 years ago.

Title: "Why 'I want the equality we had 20 years ago' is not good enough" It is alarming to hear someone say they want the equality we had 20 years ago. Does that mean they want to go back in time, when there was rampant discrimination and inequality? Or do they mean they want to uphold the progress made towards equality in the past two decades? Either way, it is not good enough. Equality should not be a static concept. It should continuously evolve and improve as society progresses. The equality we had 20 years ago might have been a significant leap forward at the time, but it is not enough to meet the needs of today's society. We need to acknowledge that there is still much work to be done towards true equality. This includes addressing systemic issues such as race and gender-based discrimination, income inequality and access to education and healthcare. Moreover, simply wanting equality is not enough. Action is needed to achieve it. It is time to challenge and disrupt the status quo, and push for meaningful change. In conclusion, we cannot settle for the equality of the past. We must strive towards a more just and inclusive society. It is time to shift the conversation from "I want the equality we had 20 years ago" to "I want true equality for all."
